DEM Productions is the creative collaboration between Dalia Anani and Hena Mustafa, two storytellers committed to creating characters on screen that help the marginalized feel authentically seen. Dalia and Hena have known each other their entire lives as they are β€œdem” (Arabic word for blood) relatives. They began writing their first original series DEM in February 2018, and have since written many more stories that are ready to be shared with the world through uncompromising visuals, illustrative character development, and intense realities that have yet to been seen on screen.

The industry is in a time of over-correction in terms of representation. Instead of deepening the problem by haphazardly perpetuating stereotypes, our vision is to create multi-dimensional POC, queer, disabled, and mentally ill characters. Not characters who are only defined by what others them, but whole characters that experience loss, pleasure, pain, and all universal human experiences.

Hena Mustafa

Hena Mustafa is a first-generation lesbian Palestinian filmmaker, screenwriter, and poet currently based in Atlanta, GA. Her educational background in psychology, criminology, and philosophy inform much of her musings. She currently works in television as a writing development assistant. Her writing aesthetic is sensual, textured, and raw.

Dalia Anani

Dalia Anani is a first-generation Arab-American artist, writer, and filmmaker currently based in California. She holds a MFA and has life-long creative love affair with assemblage and subtlety across all mediums. This translates on screen as mysterious, surprising, and alluring, through both, complicated character development and decadent imagery.
